Make $44,000 MRR from Local SEO like Webidoctr

A local first SEO platform is making $44,000 MRR, verified by stripe! What is mental is that their website is vibe coded 101 but it teaches us some critial lessons about business and in this article, we will dive into them and look at how Webidoctr came to be.

TL;DR: Webidoctr has grown to $44,000 MRR by ignoring crowded SEO niches and focusing almost exclusively on local businesses. Their success isn't built on groundbreaking technology, it's built on choosing an underserved market, following a repeatable SEO process, and leveraging AI to scale content production. The biggest takeaway is that you don't need to reinvent SEO to build a highly profitable business, you just need to focus on solving your clients problems and by going local, that becomes much easier.

Key takeaways

  • 💰 Niche beats competition. Instead of competing with agencies targeting SaaS and national brands, Webidoctr focused on local businesses where rankings are easier, results come faster, and clients are more likely to stay.
  • 🤖 AI makes local SEO highly scalable. Use AI to generate keyword ideas, create location-specific landing pages, and produce supporting blog content, allowing a small team (or even a solo founder) to serve far more clients.
  • 📈 A repeatable process is worth more than a complex product. Find keywords, create service pages, build local backlinks, collect Google reviews, and repeat the process city by city. It's a business model that compounds as you add more clients.

Introduction

Webidoctr is currently sitting on $44,000 MRR after starting out 7 years ago, back in 2019 by founder Mars Lin. He focused his business on the local first SEO market, avoiding the competition in more generalist SEO markets.

From December 2025 his business really kicked on and he is now doing $44,000 in MRR.

A Key Lesson

The one key takeaway from Mars' success is that he avoided the highly competitive SEO markets such as SAAS, Blogs and other online areas by shifiting his focus to primarily local businesses.

The reason for this is that its much easier to rank a local business in a much faster timeframe, meaning clients get results faster and are far more likely to be impressed and thus invest further and increase the profitability per client for Webidoctr.

How can you replicate this?

Local SEO, If I am honest, is a great business and easy to get into because there is simply such sheer volumes of potential clients plus everyone has some sort of individual, unique advantage of local knowledge.

Lets say you are from a small city, chances are you know that city very well. This is a huge advantage to you because you can then plan, create content and curate reviews easily. Once you have achieved success with one town, you just move onto the next nearest and so on.

Getting Your First Client

Again, Local knowledge here. Lots of small towns and cities have local directories full of companies ripe for the picking of becoming your first client.

Good old fashioned out reach via email but also, leverage the fact that you can go in person and meet the owners of these companies.

Walk into the centre of your city and visit some of the companies you can find in these directories and get a feel for them, ask to speak to the owner, spark up a conversation. Yes it might be uncomfortable but if you want to create a business you need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Create an Offer

There are a few ways you could create an offer for this type of business but I'd do something like the following:

Upfront Booster Fee - $500 - $1000 - This would be an initial 1 - 2 months of you getting them ranked.

Retainer Fee - $50 - 100 Per month - Once they are ranked, you want to keep them there, so charge them a monthly fee.

You can of course change this offer based on the amount of work required but this could be a good initial offer to experiment with.

How to rank them?

Local SEO, if I am honest is actually surprisingly easy, it takes time and paitence but the concept is straightforward. You will want a tool like ahrefs or semrush, my prefrence would be ahrefs as they offer a $29 per month starter package that is more than enough for getting started with local SEO.

Once you have that subscription, here is what gets a business ranked.

  • Reviews - This is a key one, more good reviews is of huge importance.
  • Topic authority - Is there enough content to indicate they are a local topic specialist? Lets say its a mechanic, do they have some basic content on checking a car?
  • Local authority - Do other local websites and businesses recommend them?

Lets acutely put this into practice

Creating A Local SEO Business

The best way to help you understand how to create a local SEO business is just to walk you through how to provide the service for a client. In this situation, we are going to focus on a Flowershop business in Bath, United Kingdom.

In this scenario, the flower shop business we are working with wants to launch a new flower delivery service so we are going to focus on that.

The goal will be to:

  • Create a list of keywords that you can create content for on the clients website
  • Identify any service opportunities for your client (I.e where they could make more money if they offered a service that people are looking for)
  • Identify local websites that you can use to get backlinks to your clients website (think local directories, blogs, news sites ect)

Keyword Research

Firstly, we need to do a generic search for flower shops in the city we are targeting. In this case, its Bath. We use our keyword tool of choice, in this case ahrefs, and do an initial generic search for "flower shop bath"

Ahrefs Flowershop Search

Now, as you can see in the image below, there are quite a lot of monthly searches for this so its a good place to start.

Monthly searches for flower shop bath

The goal here is to get a list of keywords that we can aim to rank for in google with our local client.

"Flower delivery bath" is an excellent term to target because its getting 350 high intent searches each month with a low competition score on the search term meaning this is going to be quite easy to rank for.

The next thing you want to do is to go to chat gpt, or your ai of choice, and ask for a comma separated list of keywords for your target business. Here is the exact prompt you can use

I am working with a INSERT BUSINESS TYPE in INSERT CITY, INSERT COUNRTY and I am looking to create a list of at least 20 search terms that we can rank them for. I need you to give me a comma separated list of possible search terms. Think of services related to the INSERT BUSINESS TYPE that people might also search. You can give me more that 20 terms, I will select the 20 best myself.

You'll likely get a response that looks something like the following:

Chatgpt Response

Copy the comma separated list and then use that in the keyword explorer in ahrefs. What you will see is something like in the following image:

ahrefs results

Congratulations you have a list of keywords to target. To prioritise them, order them by keyword difficulty with easiest being the first words you go after as they are of course the easiest to rank for.

The best part about this is that you can use AI to create a lot of the content required for this. Just ensure that its in the clients brand style and tone of voice.

In this example, we would want to create landing page for each of those commercial intent pages and then create blog content linking back to them.

For example, lets focus on "wedding florist bath". We would create a new page on the clients website at https://clientsdomain.com/wedding-florsit-bath. The page would talk about the importance of a good florist, how your client cares ect ect and highlight the services on offer. You'd likely then go and create a few blog posts about what makes good flower combinations for a wedding and link back to the wedding-florsit-bath page we created.

Do this for all of the search terms and that is your content and SEO searches taken care of.

Local Authority

We have taken care of the content, now its time to get some links from local pages. Firstly, look for local directories that you can post on as this is in your direct control.

Websites like the above often let you post on them, so take advantage of this. These are great places to get some backlinks for your website.

The next part, often the bit that you want to do as part of the retainer, is getting local news outlets to write about, or include, you in one of their articles. This takes time and requires email outreach.

Reviews

Reviews are a huge factor in local SEO so you need to get your client to focus on getting google reviews. Help the client understand the importance and also help them curate reviews elsewhere by finding out if people who left positive reviews on other platofrms could be open to leaving a review on google as well.

Local Flower Shop

Notice in the image above how, aside from the sponsored results, the first business listed is Flowers Of Bath with 426 5 start reviews, then Pulteney Bridge Flowers with 251, you can see a clear order here.

Wrapping up the strategy

If you deliver the ideas outlined above then you are well on your way to replicating Webidoctr and a strategy that could get you to the same heights that Mars Lin achieved.

There is also a lot of room with the strategy we discussed for up-selling, especially around content creation and outreach. You could develop different pricing plans to match the ambition of a company, you could charge more if its more competitive, you get the idea.

Conclusion

Local SEO presents itself as an incredilbe opptuinity in 2026 for you to create a lucrative opportunity by leveraging AI and a simple strategy that can be repliacted across multiple cities to help you build a $44,000 MRR business.

I won't tell you its easy because it isn't but the hard part is not the strategy itself, its just the work you will have to put in at first. Personally though I think its worth doing and for the right person, this business is going to be a great fit.
